ABOUT US
Junkyard Theory was conceived during a lockdown period in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. Stuck indoors, Akash Sunethkumara started reaching out to his connections in Hollywood - who were also limited to four walls - and started going live on Instagram. Gradually, he started booking more guests on board the show.
There had always been a demand for film education within Sri Lanka and soon, the webinar series snowballed into a bigger project. We now run online courses conducted by the Junkyard Theory team. The best part? We have veteran filmmakers from our webinar series as guest speakers on the courses!
Junkyard Theory has become the only platform in Sri Lanka (and perhaps the South Asian region!) to do anything of the kind with film education.

We've had nearly two dozen guests on the show. We have a total of six online courses planned - and counting! And we've been featured on No Film School, which is a pretty big deal if you're a filmmaker! All in less than a year since we started.
